Shmoo
is an African Black Shaheen Hybrid. She is 2 years old and
quite frankly count myself honored to have
worked with this bird. In all the years of
training and flying birds I have never had a
falcon fly constantly for more than 20 minutes. Shmoo
flies over an hour! That is exactly what this
little bird does on any given day. Her main job is
to keep pigeons away from human habitated
locations on Baniyas Island. She does it with
grace, speed and manners. Amazing considering she
has undergone surgery to remove a camel tick found
living in her ear, including reconstructive
operations to repair the ear cavity. She
contracted Aspirgillosis which is a fungal
infection of the lungs and has survived. She has
bowed legs and an injured nostril which left her
with a channel like scar down her beak. All in all
a true Pirate! |
